If you would like to eat lunch, or drop off a lunch, our lunch time is from 11:20 until 11:50. Parents are allowed to eat with their child at a designated table in the lunch room.
Please remember that we go outside for recess/Catch each day. We go out at 12:30, which is the warmest part of the day, feel free to send a water bottle with your child. However, with the temperature dropping make sure your child has the appropriate clothing to go outside.
Daily Five
We will be moving through our Daily Five Cafe. If you are unfamiliar with this system, please check out the Daily Five Cafe on the web

We have been working on incorporating Metacognition (thinking about our thinking), Schema (connecting reading to their feelings, experiences, thoughts, and opinions) and Visualizing (creating mental images) while reading. When reading with your child make sure to ask them about what they are thinking and help them through this process. If your child is not understanding what they are reading, pick an easier book (it is okay to read books at your child's level). Most importantly reading should fun! Feel free to read to your child and talk about it. It should be an exciting 20-30 minutes daily for you and your child to enjoy together.

Math
We are continuing to work on double digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. We will continue Rocket Math and fluency practice on addition and subtraction facts. In the meantime, have your child show you how to make 12 to 15 flashcards and see the problem, say the problem, and hear the problem. That's three ways to practice one problem!
Social Studies
We have begun identifying major differences between rural, urban, and suburban communities.
